Two things work against glazing up here. Salt carried off the water settles on the glass and holds a film that ordinary rain does not shift, and gum litter from the bush-edge streets breaks down into a fine grit that sits in the frame and along the top edge. The result is a skylight that is not broken, just steadily darker, and most people only notice how much light they had lost when it comes back. Steep blocks and two-storey homes are common here, so access is usually the part that decides how the job gets done.

Skylight cleaning in the Northern Beaches has its own rules: heritage areas, salt air and tight access all change how the job is done. Everything below links to the council or standard it comes from, so you can check it yourself.
The standard warranty requires fresh water washing at least every six months of any roof area rain does not wash naturally, and does not cover failure to replace corroded fasteners. On a coastal home that means eaves, awnings and wall abutments need washing deliberately.
