Gutter Repairs in Sydney

Repair It, or Replace It? We Tell You Straight

Most gutter problems come down to four things: a joint that has let go, rust through the base, brackets that have dropped, or a downpipe that cannot take the flow. Three of those are a repair. The fourth is usually the moment to replace the run. Our insured team inspects, photographs what we find and puts the answer in writing before any work starts. Free quotes on 0452 223 327.

Why Choose Monkeys Roofing for Gutter Repairs?

Experienced Professionals

We repair rather than replace wherever the run is sound, and we say so even when replacement would be the bigger job for us.

Comprehensive Services

Leaking joints, rust holes, dropped brackets, blocked downpipes and storm damage, all handled by the same team.

Prevent Water Damage

Every quote is itemised by section, so you can see what each part of the run costs and decide what to do now.

Affordable Pricing

Free on-site inspection with photographs, and a written quote usually within 24 hours of the visit.

Regular Maintenance Reminders

We offer reminders for regular gutter maintenance based on your needs. Whether it’s every 3, 6, 9, or 12 months, we’ll help ensure your gutters stay in optimal condition year-round.

Flexible Scheduling

Storm damage and active leaks into the house get priority, and we tell you honestly when we can get there.

How We Decide: Repair or Replace

Inspection

How much of the run is affected. Damage confined to under about a quarter of the length is a repair; spread along the whole run, patching only buys a season.

Can the Fall Be Re-set

A gutter has to fall towards the downpipe. If the fascia is sound and the brackets can hold that fall, the gutter is worth keeping. If the fascia has rotted, the gutter is not the real problem.

What Profile It Is

An old profile that no longer matches anything available is worth replacing outright, because every future repair means custom fabrication.

Final Check

If two of those three point to replacement, we quote replacement and explain why. We would rather lose a repair job than do one that fails in eight months.

What We Repair

Leaking joints and corners: Sealant at the corners is the first thing to fail on a Sydney gutter, and it fails quietly. The water runs behind the fascia instead of over the front.

Rust holes and corroded sections: Rust starts at the low points and behind the brackets. A holed section can be cut out and replaced without redoing the whole run.

Sagging and dropped brackets: When brackets loosen the fall reverses and water pools, which is what starts the rust in the first place.

Overflow that is not a blockage: The Code allows one downpipe per 12 metres of gutter. Long runs on terraces sit over that limit, and the fix is another downpipe, not another clean.

How often should gutters be cleaned in Sydney?

Most Sydney homes need gutter repairs at least once or twice a year. Properties surrounded by trees, especially in leafy suburbs on the North Shore or Northern Beaches, benefit from quarterly cleans to prevent blockages, overflow damage and fire risk from dry leaf build-up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Regular gutter repairs prevents clogs, water damage, and roof leaks, ensuring your home is safe from potential water-related issues. Neglected gutters can lead to costly repairs due to overflow and water pooling.

We recommend gutter repairs every 3 to 6 months if you live in a leafy area, or at least twice a year for homes in less vegetated areas. This prevents leaves, twigs, and other debris from causing blockages.

If gutters are not cleaned, they can overflow, causing water to seep into the roof and foundation of your home. This can result in water damage, mould, and even structural issues

The rules this job has to meet

Australian standards and Code requirements we work to, with the source for each.

Downpipes go as close to the valley as possible

The Code requires downpipes to sit as close as practical to where valley gutters discharge. On roofs with several valleys feeding one length of gutter, a downpipe in the wrong position overloads that section long before the rest of the run fills.

One downpipe per 12 metres of gutter

The National Construction Code allows a single downpipe to serve no more than 12 metres of eaves gutter. Long unbroken runs on Sydney terraces and wide Federation frontages often sit over that limit, which is why they overflow in heavy rain even when the gutter is clean.

Sydney sheds about 1,213 mm of rain a year

Observatory Hill has averaged around 1,213 mm of rain a year on records kept since 1858. A 150 square metre roof therefore sends roughly 180,000 litres a year through its gutters and downpipes, which is why a blockage shows up as overflow so quickly.
