On a metal roof the screws and their washers fail long before the sheeting does, and salt air brings that forward. The rubber washer hardens and splits, the head corrodes, and the screw either backs out or loses its seal. What you get is a leak at a fixing point in the middle of a sheet with nothing obviously damaged anywhere near it. It is common on garages, carports, patio roofs and flat-roofed extensions around here, and on strata rooftops where nobody looks at the fixings until something drips inside.
We go over the fixings rather than guessing. Corroded heads, split washers and screws that have backed out get identified first.

KLIP-LOK concealed-fix sheeting can be installed to a pitch as low as 1 degree in 0.48 mm base metal thickness, meeting AS/NZS 1562.1:2018. That is the usual answer for a flat rear extension where corrugated sheet would not comply.
